Tír na nÓg

The Tír na nÓg project aims to address the different needs and extend the hand of friendship to our aging Irish community here in Jersey. We strive to address the social isolation sometimes experienced particularly by people who live alone, and through a small team of volunteers, facilitate access to either statutory or voluntary services.

Monthly meetings and tea afternoons are normally held throughout the year which include food, music, conversation & games. Other events are organised throughout the year – cinema outings & afternoon tea, a December lunch at a local hotel, & in the summer a coach tour of the island followed by a Jersey Cream tea or lunchon. Members also attend functions organised by the Jersey Irish Society throughout the year.

This all helps considerably in improving the physical and mental health of our senior Irish members, meeting new and old friends and sharing precious memories strengthens their ongoing inclusion into society.
